Frequently Asked Questions

I work full-time outside the home. How do we find time to do this?

Saturdays are available for consultations to discuss options that work around busy schedules. Clients can arrange for the organizing to be done independently while a family or staff member is present, or they can choose to take a day’s leave to focus fully on the project. Many find that dedicating the time results in a real sense of calm and relief afterwards.

Can I book a consultation to get ideas and complete the work on my own?

Absolutely. For clients who have the energy and time to tackle the project themselves, Joyfully Sorted is happy to share ideas, tips, and practical solutions for the space. Clients simply need to have a notebook ready during the consultation to capture everything discussed.

Will I need to purchase a lot of storage containers or organizing products?

Only if they are truly needed or if that is the specific look desired. While many love the aesthetic of beautifully arranged containers, it is not a prerequisite, and the goal is always to use and repurpose what clients already have. Budgets are discussed during the consultation, and optional items can be suggested for purchase over time as the budget allows.

Will you make me downscale and throw out some of my possessions?

No, clients are always in complete control of what stays and what goes. The role of the organizer is simply to help clients think through their choices and find practical solutions for the belongings that matter most to them.

Will my home be judged, and do I need to help during the organizing process?

Not at all. A clean or perfect home is never expected, and the process is completely judgment-free. Clients can choose to work alongside the organizer or step back and let the work be handled independently, working in whatever way feels most comfortable.

How do we begin sorting a loved one’s belongings after a loss?

There is no right timeline for this process, and it can feel overwhelming to begin. Joyfully Sorted provides a calm, patient, and supportive presence to help work through belongings at a pace that feels comfortable for the family. The goal is not to rush, but to respectfully sort items and create clarity and peace in a difficult time.
